Feature / Discussion: Resource Guide 2006COM Express is an open standard extension of the already widely accepted Computer-On-Module (COM) concept where a highly integrated CPU module plugs into a customized carrier board. This configuration alleviates the need for designing, developing, and building a full custom motherboard. COMs offer faster time to market at lower costs with decreased design risk. Additionally, the CPU portion of the system is upgradeable as technology evolves, leaving the system interfaces fixed on the carrier.
