For simplicity and I/O convenience, commercial-off-the-shelf Microcontrollers (MCUs) with integrated I/O can be adapted to PC/104 to create extremely efficient controller designs. Additionally, consumer PDAs make excellent development tools for the controller and are useful in the end design as operator interface consoles.
