First Embedded Modules to Run .NET Micro Framework With Fatfile and USB Capabilities Announced
1 year 1 month ago

Pittsford, NY: Embedded Master™ is a family of embedded products that implement Microsoft's .NET Micro Framework. Developers can run C# managed code inside Embedded Master™ or use Visual Studio to create and debug programs quickly and effectively. Embedded Master™ is the first OEM device to implement .NET Micro Framework that also adds a FAT File System and USB Host capabilities on a tiny 1.55” x 1.55” board. Users can access files on SD cards or memory devices (thumb drive, USB hard drive, etc.) and also use other USB devices such as, mice, keyboards, joysticks, printers and Bluetooth dongles. Windows SideShow™ is also fully supported through USB or Bluetooth.

Microsoft .NET Micro Framework extends the advantages of .NET and Microsoft’s Visual Studio tools to a class of smaller, less expensive, and more resource-constrained devices than the .NET Compact Framework or the standard .NET framework. Embedded Master™ adds additional features to the .NET Micro Framework, allowing access to files on SD/MMC cards and USB memory devices. Also, with an embedded USB host stack, other USB devices can be used as well (e.g. mice, keyboards, joysticks, printers, Bluetooth dongle, etc.) Other hardware classes are provided to support the many available peripherals such as ADC, DAC, PWM and more.

Based on an ARM7 LPC2468 70Mhz processor, an Embedded Master™ runs .NET Micro Framework V2.5, and offers: Ethernet with full TCP/IP stack, 2 USB Ports (Host and Device), serial interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, etc), 4 x 10-bit analog inputs, one 10-bit analog output, PWM, with memory of 8MB SDRAM and 4.5 MB Flash. Embedded Master™ also supports low cost 128x64 pixel LCDs, and includes MAC address, USB VID/PID and all extended features at no additional cost and with no royalties. There are 45 x I/O pins, 35 of which can be external interrupt pins. These pins are multiplexed with peripherals including UART, SPI, I2C, PWM, ADC, DAC, CAN, Ethernet, USB device, USB host. The system can be powered through 5V USB or an external supply. Embedded Master™ requires 3.3V@125mA at peak, but provides various lower-power modes to reduce consumption.

Embedded Master™ Development Kit includes Embedded Master™ module preinstalled on a development board, a 128x64 LCD and a USB cable. The Software Development Kit enables a rapid software development environment. All you need is a PC with Visual Studio and .NET Micro Framework SDK installed (Microsoft downloads.)

Made by GHI Electronics, Embedded Master™ is available now at $79 from worldwide distributor Saelig Company, Inc. Pittsford, NY. www.saelig.com 1-888-7SAELIG info@saelig.com
