Hectronic, a specialist in embedded PC development and manufacturing, has announced a Qseven Starter Kit for rapid development of ultra compact and low power embedded systems. The Starter Kit is based on the H6049 Qseven Module with an Intel® Atom(tm) Z510/530 processor. The H4103 Reference Carrier Board and Board Support Packages for Windows XP Pro/XP Embedded and Linux are included to save time by enabling customers to start developing the application before the custom carrier board is finalized.

The Starter Kit features NANDrive Flash SSD, one port for PCIe and one port for PCIe or 1Gbit Ethernet. The graphical interface is LVDS and SDVO and the enclosed interface card enables VGA or DVI output. The H4103 Reference Carrier Board can be used with an off-the-shelf ATX power supply. Hectronic includes free development tools, drivers and a complete open source operating system as part of its Linux BSP for the Qseven Starter Kit.

The Qseven standard is defined for low cost, low power and compact applications, such as handheld, battery powered equipment. Hectronic is targeting volume applications in the ultra mobile embedded space. Such applications are for example testers, medical devices and rugged tablets. The H6049 Intel® Atom(tm) Qseven Module is a good fit for other applications that would benefit from the features of the latest 45nm mobile chipsets and processors.

The Qseven Starter Kit is available now and the price is 699 euros with the Z510 version with 1GB SSD and 512MB RAM and 799 euros with the Z530 version with 2GB SSD and 1GB RAM. For 100+ quantities, the H6049 Qseven Module costs 169 euros each. The H6049 pricing is with a 1.1 GHz Intel® Atom(tm) Z510 processor, 512 MB DDRII RAM and 1 GB SSD.

Technical support is provided directly from Hectronic's development team in Uppsala, near Stockholm, Sweden.

Hectronic is a participating member of the Qseven consortium. The company is also an affiliate member of Intel's Embedded and Communications Alliance. The Intel® Embedded and Communications Alliance is a community of embedded and communications developers and solution providers.
