MPL Announces 400 MHz PowerPC Board with FPU

MPL presents with the MIP470 a powerful Single Board Processor solution with FPU. The product is focussed for markets with requirements like small size, wide temperature range and ruggedness. The MIP470 is also available with conformal coating and in extended temperature.

The MIP is based around the sophisticated embedded Freescale MPC8347 PowerPC processor. The product offers: 2 x Gigabit Ethernet, 2 x E-IDE port (44-pin), 4 x serial ports, 2 x USB2.0 and a Real Time Clock. Additionally the SBC can be equipped with on board soldered ECC SDRAM up to 512MB and up to 64MB Flash. Additional memory like Flash or HDD can be added via the IDE Connectors. As a further special feature the board comes with a Multi-Purpose-Socket allowing to install SRAM, FLASH or EPROM. Functional expansions can be realized with PC/104-Plus or PCI-104 boards.

The MIP470 is being supplied with the Open Source ”U-Boot” bootloader, providing various boot sources like Ethernet, IDE, FLASH.... Also a MPL Embedded Linux distribution and development chain is available. Real-time BSPs are under development.

The MIP470 is intended and designed for use in hardest environments even in extended temperature without the need of a fan. Special efforts have been taken in the selection of quality components and their long-term availability as well as on the low power consumption of the system which is less than 6.5 Watts at 400MHz.

All those features and specialties make the MIP470 ideal for any embedded control application requiring small size, high computing performance and low power consumption. Additionally the board is intended to be used in rugged, harsh and even moistly environments and MPL guarantee for long term availability and quality. With this properties the MIP470 is being used in airborne and transportation systems, Military, industrial or just any raw/secure application.
