Hectronic introduces H6036, the world's smallest formfactor Pentium M COM-module

The H6036, is built on the Intel Pentium M / Celeron M-family and the chipset combination 855GME / ICH 4. The card have CPU alternatives ranging from ULV versions of the Celeron M at 600MHz up to Pentium M at 1.8GHz. The H6036 combines an extremely small formfactor, powerful prestanda and low power consumption with a long prosuct life cycle. The card is only in the COM module version (Hec PC104 board-to-board). This product is intended for applications that demands hight computing power in a small package.

The H6036, the newest member of Hectronic's PC-104/H-family, is a PC-104 size formfactor COM (computer-on-module)-module primarily targeting carrierboard designs but can be used in traditionally PC/104-stacked boards. The module is a pin-down only module for docking of I/O interface modules or a complete carrier board. This concept enables development and small to medium product volumes with PC/104 expansion boards, until a customized carrier board is developed – seamlessly using the same CPU module. A reference carrier board or interface-adapterboards with cables and are available for development purposes together with Embedded Linux, Embedded XP and Windows CE 5.0 board support packages.

Featuring the Intel 855GME/852GM chipsets with the companion ICH4, the board is available with several CPU options from Intel's embedded longlife roadmap, ranging from the Celeron M 600 MHz ULV, the Celeron M 1GHz ULV, to the Pentium M 1.4GHz LV and the Pentium M 1.8GHz. The module has all interfaces of the module in the pin down Connectors, including a true 16-bit ISA PC104-bus, and a 32 bit PCI bus in a miniature HecPCI connector.

There is a 200 pin DDR SODIMM socket for max. 1GB PC-2700 modules. The board also supports two IDE devices with up to Ultra ATA/100 support.

The board has four onboard USB 2.0 interfaces, as well as two COM ports, onboard 10/100Mbit Ethernet as well as a comprehensive range of display interface options including LVDS. H6036 also features ACPI hardware and OS support for low power management, voltage and temperature supervision and software controllable watchdog.

The board's power consumption is as low as approx. 8W with a Celeron M 1GHz ULV.

In order to provide a thermal, mechanical interface that enables easy integration, Hectronic provides a heatspreader solution as an option.

Given its ultra compact design, midrange to highend performance, fanless design possibilities and low power consumption, the module is ideally suited for demanding embedded applications such as transportation, offshore/marine, Military, ruggedized portables, instrumentation and industrial automation. Hectronic has already secured several strategic customer designs in the Scandinavian countries with the H6036 in various CPU versions.

Samples are available and the board is in mass production since the end of 2006. Development kits are available with a range of hardware and software options, and Hectronic can provide carrierboard design services, directly as well as through partners.
