Austin, Texas - February 19, 2008 - Tehuti Networks Inc., a semiconductor company providing 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) single-chip, low-power network controllers, announced its new SFP+ adapter reference design family: the TN7587-S, an SFP+ single-port NIC; and the TN7587-D, an SFP+ dual-port NIC.
The adapters are based upon the Tehuti Networks TN3016 controller and include AMCC's QT2025, a 10Gbps SFP+ physical layer IC, to power its new adapters. The adapters are designed to support the SFF-8431 SFP+ specification and are optimized to provide a very small footprint, low-cost, low-power solution.
Tehuti Networks' adapters will be on display at OFC/NFOEC, February 26-28 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA in AMCC booth #3015. AMCC will highlight the 10GBASE SFP+ ecosystem and showcase leading-edge components and reference designs.
"We're very pleased that Tehuti Networks selected our QT2025 for their next generation of low power controllers," said Neal Neslusan, director of marketing transport, AMCC. "Tehuti Networks' controllers combined with AMCC's QT2025 PHY that supports 10GBASE-SR, LR, LRM and twinax copper cable are critical components to address server vendor's demands for greater bandwidth, reduced power budgets and smaller footprints."
"Force10 Networks has a history of helping customers transform their networks into strategic assets by delivering a combination of system density and reliability," said Stephen Garrison, vice president of marketing, Force10 Networks. "We see the compact nature and potentially lower power consumption of SFP+ as a way to increase port densities on limited physical space while helping organizations more efficiently manage power and cooling."
"Tehuti Networks is extremely pleased to expand its long-standing relationship with AMCC through our SFP+ adapter offerings," said Blaine Kohl, vice president of marketing, Tehuti Networks. "These adapters provide customers the flexibility of selecting an optics module that best meets the target application while offering space and power savings over XFP adapters."
Tehuti Networks' TN3016 is based upon its OptiStrataTM architecture and offers a PCI Express™ 8-lane host bus interface and dual 10GbE XAUI ports. The TN7587-D's dimensions are 5.8" by 2.5", and when populated with two SFP+ optics modules has a power dissipation of 15W. These solutions support all major operating systems including Microsoft™, Linux™, FreeBSD®, Solaris™,XEN™ and VMWARE®.
Production volumes of the dual port TN7587-D, excluding the SFP+ optics modules, are available now at a list price of $866.00 and the single-port is available for a list price of $799.00. For more information on Tehuti Networks' products, pricing and availability, contact sales@tehutinetworks.net.
